MAKING
CONNECTIONS THROUGH GEOMETRY:
THE SEARCH BENEATH THE SEA
When two scuba divers discover
strange tiles on the ocean floor, it is only the beginning of
their search for a long-lost treasure ship. In order to succeed,
these teen "sleuths" must employ a wide range of geometric
skills, such as tessellations, the relationship between angles
and polygons, maps, properties of similar figures, and much more.
Students use hands-on materials provided in the kit to work out
a complex set of problems based on information in an old Captain's
Log, a nautical chart, and on-site measurements. This videokit
allows students to use all their problem-solving skills as well
as gain a broad introduction to numerous topics in geometry. Also
